The UK’s leading theme park Alton Towers has offered permanent positions to 11 young people who completed placements developed by the Prince’s Trust.
The trust developed a Get into Customer Service scheme which saw the candidates, who are mostly from Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area, work in various areas of the theme park, from the hotel reception through to catering.
The theme park is working in partnership with the Prince’s Trust to give young people across Staffordshire the chance to develop their confidence and skills in the employment world.
The resort’s learning and development manager said that the transformation in the young people has been astounding and many of them have received great feedback from their colleagues and line managers.
Alton Towers is also one of the UK’s largest seasonal employers, employing temporary staff across all areas of the park to help cope with higher visitor numbers, particularly in the summer months due to the parks popularity for school and work trips.
Recently, the park opened CBeebies world specifically aimed at younger children, which would have created even more jobs.
